UBUNTU WOMEN
Precious Mabasa
Her bubbly personality has already won everyone’s hearts. A young woman from the Limpopo rural community of the Oaks, with a beautiful 11-month-old baby that Precious refers to as ‘my pumpkin’, this month’s Ubuntu woman shares some insights into her life.

Who is the most inspiring person in your life and why?
The most inspiring person is my boss, she's a young hard-working woman with a very long heart. I know the challenges people face when running an organization/business, sometimes not having enough from sponsors but still have to keep the organization up and running no matter what the challenges. Her dedication and patience kept Nourish NPO up and running for 10 years, she’s my role model because almost 30 people are able to put food on the table because of her hard work.
What was your biggest challenge in life and how did you handle it?
My biggest challenge was studying at a college without reliable funds. I had to work so hard so that I could complete studying and go back home. Even now I am working at Nourish doing my internship in office administration as part of my college qualification, it has been a challenge, but I am managinge.
What's your favourite way to chill and relax and top up your batteries after a long day at work?
After a long day at work I get home, and I like to take a long hot bath then watch movies.
What advice do you have for other women?
Trust yourself, be brave and be kind to yourself - if you don't put yourself first no one will.
What is your favourite part of your job at Nourish?
I love everything about my job but when I am working on something that benefits the organization, the people, the community…that's what makes me happy.
Do you have a favourite saying or quote that motivates you.. and what is it?
"If you don't like where you are, move you are not a tree."
