Bridget Matosse
Meet 27 year old Bridget Matosse from Cottondale Village

Who is the most inspiring person in your life and why?
My inspiring person is my mother, because she gave birth to me and raised me as a single parent since my father passed when I was young. My mother taught me a lot in my life aand about my future. She advised me to go to school- never to drop out, but rather to complete my matric, (my high school certificate). My mother is a strong woman and today I'm proud of myself because of her.
Is it hard to be a manager as a young women in Africa and to lead men...if so why? And how do you handle it?
Yes, it is hard to be a young woman in South Africa, because there's no jobs. Sometimes as a young woman I struggle a lot. Before Nourish, I used to wake up early in the morning to go and search for a job -coming back home late...sometimes my child is asleep before I came back ,so it's hard and painful. But I try all my best to feed my family. My parents raised me well and especially my mother inspired me so now it's my time to be a strong parent to make sure my children are always with a full stomach.
What was your biggest challenge in life and how did you handle it?
My biggest challenge in my life is because I didn't complete my matric the way I would have liked it with good results, so I had to drop my career that I wanted to do, but I realised that is not the end of the road in my life. I tried my second choice and went to study hospitality theory and then the YES opportunity happened and now I am working with ECD. Being practical is the way that I handled my challenge.
What's your favourite way to chill and relax and top up your batteries after a long day at work?
When I'm relaxing at work- I dream and I think that every child that comes into my hands at the creche can have a better future... that's my wish. ,I believe that my doing and what I am doing can make kids have a better future, because everyday I plant a good seed in their future of them.
What advice do you have for other women?
I would like to advice to all the women, and especially the women of South Africa- to be strong no matter what situation they came across in their life they must be strong. And never ever allow any situation to take advantage to them, they always have a right to say something (voice out) and let's stand together to fight against women abuse and support each other.
What is your favourite part of your job at the Eco village?
My favourite part of my job at Eco Village is to teach kids, because I have so much love for them and since I have started working here,I have gained more experience about children and I am so proud to be a young woman that is teaching them.
Do you have a favourite saying or quote that motivates you.. and what is it?
"Womens let's stand together to build the nation without any fear."
